2019. 254 Pages. (Paperback.).

In this fast-paced debut novel based in modern Chicago, there are already two suicides, a stranded infant and a murder suspect in the two suicides in the first 15 pages. Then it gets much more complex. There is all the usual hints and false leads of the genre, with more than enough to confuse this reader, and most of them are so unrealistic as to be laughable. But with 50 pages to go, it is quite clear how the complex story will end and who will be the approved guardians of the traumatized baby, who of course is adorable.
A rather amateur effort to create suspense and complexity in a genre that I am not predisposed to like.
